Our school accepts children and adults of all ages, starting from nursery school. Courses for young children are based around what they like doing: playing, singing and being creative. As they grow older, expectations grow and a more formal education begins: this involves reading, writing, speaking. The courses usually begin in September and end in May. We also provide summer lessons for whoever would like to take advantage of the summer months to complete an academic year or improve in a particular area of language. Courses can also be individually molded around a student’s needs. All courses can be adapted to online, which we became experts in during the Covid-19 crisis and lockdowns.
We register students for all reputable language exams. Our results prove that studying at the European School is a recipe for success. Every year, our students do extremely well in the speaking component of the exams; in fact, many of them score full marks, so it makes sense to learn languages at the European School!
For adults, we have all the solutions, whatever the need. We also provide lessons through (Employment and Vocational Training Account) LAEK/ΛΑΕΚ (Λογαριασμός για την Απασχόληση και την Επαγγελματική Κατάρτιση).
First of all, we speak the target language with our students! As proved by each person who speaks their native language – they learnt it by listening, absorbing and finally speaking. We use the best books available on the market. We have interactive whiteboards in the classrooms, helping to bring the lesson alive and make it more exciting. We use games as a way to check learning, apart from homework, which is personally corrected by the teacher so as not to lose time in class. At regular intervals, the students are invited to a personal meeting with the director for some speaking practice. After a module is finished, there is a verification test that is done outside the classroom but within the school. Vocabulary and grammar are tested in this way. Exam preparation is thorough, with plenty of testing before the exam date.
All of the teachers at the European School are qualified to teach their specialist language/s. Most of the teachers are native speakers of the language they teach. Between us, it is safe to say we have more than 100 years’ teaching experience! We all love what we do, which is reflected in the atmosphere in the classroom and amongst us. “All for one, and one for all,” as Alexandre Dumas’ Three Musketeers used to say.
